Chairman´s Desk

It is an immense pleasure for me to assume the position of Chairman of the Governing Body of the RCC Institute of Information Technology (RCCIIT) since 2020. Having associated with the Directorate of Technical Education, Govt. of West Bengal since long back and as present Director of Technical Education, Govt. of West Bengal, I have closely watched the genesis of the institution from its inception in 1999 as a offshoot of the erstwhile Regional Computer Center (RCC) in JU to its present form - the rich tradition of imparting quality education in IT and allied field and catering to the industry need of quality technical manpower continues as before.

With active support of the State Govt. the Institute was selected for the World Bank-MHRD funded project TEQIP-II in 2011 and has since then made significant progress as far as Teaching-Learning standard and Research culture are concerned. It can now boast of having one of the best academic infrastructures in terms of ICT tools and facilities, Labs, Learning resource and Teaching resource and ambience when compared with other best colleges in the state. RCCIIT is not only known for good academic practice and competitive placement, it is also an Institute with values. It takes care of its staff and students based on the values of humanism and compassion. It provides opportunities beyond academics to help students achieve their full potential as a socially responsible citizen. Being a self-financing Institute of unique origin and nature, it follows all relevant Govt. rules including that for pay of its teaching and non-teaching staff with absolute transparency and equity in policy.

With the vision of developing RCCIIT into a Centre of Excellence, the State Govt. in Higher Education Department took overall responsibility of the institute in 2005 through formation of the Society, the Board of Management as well as the Board of Governors of this prestigious institution.

Having two of its existing programs already accredited by the NBA, I am sure the Institution will march forward with NBA accreditation of rest of the programs and NAAC accreditation in near future.

NIRF ranking and active partnership with core and IT industries are two of the major goals that the Institute is pursuing. I sincerely believe that with the effort put in by the management, teachers, staff and students and the potential it has, the Institute will overcome all its difficulties to achieve excellence in the global field of professional technical education.

Let me take this opportunity to convey my all good wishes to all the students and staff of this Institution.
